R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Ed and Shirley Headrick of Abilene celebrated their
50th wedding anniversary December 21, 2004; and
WHEREAS, Edwin Bruce Headrick was born on August 15, 1933, to
Orville Bruce Headrick and Minnie Sue Goodloe in Ellis County
Texas, and graduated from Taft High School in 1950, received a
degree in Communications/Bible from David Lipscomb University in
1955, a M.Ed. in Guidance and Counseling from Mississippi State in
1968, and Ph.D. in Educational Psychology from Mississippi State
University in 1971; and
WHEREAS, Shirley Lenoa Pullias was born on August 14, 1933,
to Irby Clyde Pullias, Sr. and Louise Tennessee Harding in Lebanon,
Tennessee, graduated from Fayetteville High School in 1951, and
attended David Lipscomb University thru 1955; and
WHEREAS, Ed and Shirley met at a freshman mixer at David
Lipscomb University in the fall of 1951; and
WHEREAS, Joined in marriage on December 21, 1954, in
Fayetteville, Tennessee, Edwin Bruce and the former Shirley Lenoa
Pullias have shared the past 50 years together while being blessed
with four children, Amanda, Amy, Bruce, and Nathan; and six
grandsons, John Paul Brown, Casey Heath Kelley, Nathan Daniel
Brown, Chad Headrick Kelley, Clay Harding Kelley, and Hagan Jay
Headrick; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Headrick has served as a Minister for 46 years,
as a professor of Psychology at Abilene Cristian University for 33
years, and served as Chairman of the Psychology Department for 17
years while Mrs. Headrick devoted her time to raising their four
children; and
WHEREAS, Ed and Shirley's marriage has set an example of
love, commitment, and faith in God for their children,
grandchildren, and numerous friends; and
WHEREAS, Mr. and Mrs. Headrick Celebrated their anniversary
with family at a special dinner on December 20, 2004; now,
therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas
Legislature hereby congratulate Ed and Shirley Headrick on their
Golden Wedding Anniversary and extend to them best wishes for
continued happiness; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Ed and Shirley Headrick as an expression of high regard
by the Texas House of Representatives.
