R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Memories of a life filled with joyful times and
meaningful accomplishments may comfort the family and friends of
Nancy Keith Wencke Crouch of Houston, who passed away on June 19,
2005, at the age of 75; and
WHEREAS, Born on April 18, 1930, to Carl George and Rubye
Keith Wencke in Battle Creek, Michigan, Mrs. Crouch earned a degree
in economics from the University of Michigan; and
WHEREAS, She moved to Houston and, while employed at McEvoy
Oil Equipment, she met Dr. Robert Beverly Crouch, whom she married
in 1958; the couple enjoyed a loving marriage that was blessed with
three children and five grandchildren; and
WHEREAS, A valued member of her community, Mrs. Crouch lent
her time and talents to a host of charitable and political
organizations, including the Children's Theater of the Junior
League of Houston, Harris County Medical Auxiliary, Saintly
Stitchers of St. Martin's Episcopal Church, Magic Circle Republican
Women's Club, United Republicans of Harris County, and the Blue
Bird Circle; moreover, she was a devoted congregant of St. Martin's
Episcopal Church for many years; and
WHEREAS, Those fortunate enough to have known Nancy Crouch
will remember her kindness, generosity, and wisdom; although she
will be profoundly missed, she leaves behind a legacy to treasure
for those who held her dear; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas
Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby pay tribute to the life of
Nancy Keith Wencke Crouch and that deepest sympathy be extended to
the members of her family: to her daughters and sons-in-law,
Jennifer Crouch and Stephen H. Ellis, Alyson Crouch and William G.
Hardin III, and Kimberly Crouch and Stephen P. Brown; to her
grandchildren, Robert Stephen Ellis, Matthew Gilstrap Ellis,
Josephine Jenkins Hardin, Amelia Pearson Brown, and Asa Frederick
Brown; to her sister-in-law, Josephine Crouch Sherfy; to her
nephews, L. Randolph Sherfy, Frederick C. Sherfy, and Joseph P.
Sherfy; and to her other relatives and friends; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for the members of her family and that when the Texas House
of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Nancy
Keith Wencke Crouch.
