R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Richard and Darlene Rabe of Houston are celebrating their 42nd wedding anniversary on July 6, 2005; and WHEREAS, Native Houstonians, the pair met at the wedding of mutual friends and were married in 1963 at Gospel Truth Pentecostal Church; since that time, they have enjoyed a loving marriage that has been blessed with three cherished children, Steven Richard, David Craig, and Stacia Suzanne; and WHEREAS, Today, valued members of the First Baptist Church, the Rabes have lent their time and talents to a host of civic groups; both are lifetime members of the Stevens Elementary School PTA, and Mrs. Rabe, a homemaker and former employee of the U.S. Treasury Department, has served as president of the Houston Council of PTAs; and WHEREAS, Mr. Rabe, who retired from Houston Industries in 1998 after more than 42 years of service, has volunteered at his church to serve as missions coordinator for the Crown Sunday School Class, an usher, and an ESL teacher, and he has also been highly involved with the Oak Forest Homeowners Association; moreover, he is in his second term as president of Northwest Houston AARP Chapter No. 1265 and has further distinguished himself through his service as treasurer of the Entex Retired Employees Organization and with the Candlelight Park board; and WHEREAS, The enduring union of Richard and Darlene Rabe remains a genuine source of inspiration to all those with whom they have shared the richness of their lives, and it is indeed a pleasure to join them in celebrating more than four decades of happiness together; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby congratulate Richard and Darlene Rabe on their 42nd wedding anniversary and extend to them sincere best wishes for continued happiness; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Mr. and Mrs. Rabe as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
