H.R. No. 199
R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, The Calallen High School baseball team achieved the
pinnacle of success on June 9, 2005, when it won the 4A state
championship at the Dell Diamond in Round Rock; and
WHEREAS, After winning the District 31-4A championship game,
the Wildcats charged through the playoffs, making the state
tournament for the ninth time in 13 years, and routed Wichita Falls
Ryder 12-2 in the state semifinals; in the final game, they dealt
the top-ranked Waco Midway Panthers a crushing 10-3 defeat to claim
the coveted state crown for the second time since 2000; and
WHEREAS, Coach Steve Chapman ably schooled his charges in the
finer points of the game, while instilling in them the values of
hard work, determination, and good sportsmanship; and
WHEREAS, Demonstrating the athleticism, talent, and
commitment to excellence of true champions, the Calallen High
School Wildcats are a source of tremendous pride to their school,
families, and friends, and they indeed deserve special commendation
for this outstanding achievement; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas
Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby congratulate the Calallen
High School baseball team on winning the 2005 4A state championship
title and extend to its players and coaches best wishes for
continued success; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for the team as an expression of high regard by the Texas
House of Representatives.
