R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, The passing of Gene Dinges of Houston on June 9, 2005, at the age of 71, has brought a profoundly felt loss to the family and friends of this esteemed Texan; and WHEREAS, Born on October 3, 1933, to Dillard and Dottie Dinges, Mr. Dinges graduated from Missouri City High School and attended Wharton County Junior College and Stephen F. Austin State University, where he completed his master's degree; and WHEREAS, A longtime employee of Federal Tank Company who became the company's president, he was also a well-known rancher in the Fort Bend County area, where he had raised cattle since he was in the fifth grade; additionally he had been a coach, ably serving Center and Lufkin High Schools and Stephen F. Austin State University; and WHEREAS, Mr. Dinges further distinguished himself through his involvement with a number of organizations; a life member of the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo and the Fort Bend County Fair Association, he also gave of his time and talents to the Texas and Southwestern Cattleman's Association, Charolais Breeders Association, Stephen F. Austin State University Alumni and Letterman Associations, Wharton County Junior College Alumni and Letterman Associations, and Salt Grass Trail Riders Association; in addition, he was a buyer for the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, Fort Bend County Fair Association, Brazoria County Fair Association, and the Needville FFA Show; and WHEREAS, Those fortunate enough to have known Gene Dinges will remember his devotion to his family as well as the kindness and wisdom he generously shared; although he will be sorely missed, he leaves behind a legacy to treasure for those who held him dear; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby pay tribute to the life of Gene Dinges and extend deepest sympathy to the members of his family: to his wife of 50 years, Sue Dinges; to his sons, Ron Dinges and his wife, Theresa, Don Dinges and his wife, Jeanne, Mike Dinges, and Bud Dinges; to his grandchildren, Kaleigh, Ashley, Alexandra, and Dillon Dinges; to his brothers, Dillard and Kenneth Dinges; and to his other relatives and many friends; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Gene Dinges.
