H.R. No. 234



R E S O L U T I O N
	WHEREAS, Mary Lookadoo, superintendent of Mineola ISD, has 
been named the 2005 Superintendent of the Year by the Region VII 
Education Service Center; and
	WHEREAS, This well-deserved tribute honors an administrator 
who has demonstrated sterling leadership in the areas of student 
performance, administration and school climate, school 
board-superintendent relations, school improvements, fiscal 
matters, facilities, instructional, student, and personnel 
management, school-community relations, and professional growth 
and development; and
	WHEREAS, Mrs. Lookadoo began her teaching career as a 
business/English teacher with Desoto ISD more than 30 years ago; 
she received her master of education degree in elementary 
education/business education from the University of North Texas, 
and in 1985 became director of curriculum and instruction at 
Frankston ISD; in 1992, she accepted the position as superintendent 
and middle school principal at Murchison ISD and six years later 
became superintendent of Mineola ISD, where she has served with 
distinction for the past seven years; and
	WHEREAS, An exemplary educator and administrator with a deep 
concern for all students in Texas, Mrs. Lookadoo has been active in 
many local and state education organizations, including the Texas 
Association of School Administrators, Texas Association of Rural 
Schools, and Texas Association of Community Schools; and
	WHEREAS, In all of her endeavors, she has enjoyed the love and 
support of her husband of 42 years, Frank Lookadoo; they have been 
blessed with a son, Justin, and a daughter, Michelle Miller, as well 
as two grandchildren, Tate and Trent; and
	WHEREAS, Over the course of her illustrious career, Mrs. 
Lookadoo has made impressive contributions to public education in 
Texas that have benefited many thousands of citizens of the Lone 
Star State, and she is most deserving of special recognition; now, 
therefore, be it
	RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas 
Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby congratulate Mary Lookadoo 
on being named the Region VII Superintendent of the Year for 2005 
and extend to her best wishes for continued success; and, be it 
further
	RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 
prepared for Mrs. Lookadoo as an expression of high regard by the 
Texas House of Representatives.
