R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Donna Harrington of Plano is marking the red-letter occasion of her 105th birthday on August 1, 2005, and her more than a century's worth of loving relationships and meaningful accomplishments is truly cause for celebration; and WHEREAS, The Plano native was born Donna Belle Boggess on August 1, 1900, to Henry Dye Boggess and Isabel Netzer Boggess; she is a member of a pioneer Plano family that arrived in Collin County shortly after the Civil War; Boggess Elementary School in Murphy is named for her father; and WHEREAS, Mrs. Harrington graduated as salutatorian of Plano High School in 1917 and is the school's oldest living graduate; she also has the distinction of being the oldest living member of the First Christian Church of Plano, which she joined in 1914; and WHEREAS, In December 1918, she married Robert Lee Harrington, whose forebears settled in Plano in 1842; the couple were blessed with two sons, Robert Lee Harrington, Jr., and Don Boggess Harrington; and WHEREAS, A dedicated homemaker throughout her marriage, Mrs. Harrington enjoyed membership in the 05 Bridge Club and the Plano Garden Club; this loving mother continues to reside in her own home and is the main caregiver for her younger son, who was injured in an automobile accident in 1954; and WHEREAS, Today, Mrs. Harrington enjoys the love and affection of a large, close-knit family that includes four grandchildren, Robin Harrington Brady, Ginger Harrington Ellis, William Cordell Harrington, and Suzan Harrington Zakrzewski, and eight great-grandchildren, Shara, Victoria, and Heather Harrington, Matthew and Caroline Brady, Meredith Ellis, and J. D. and Julia Ann Zakrzewski; and WHEREAS, The birthday of Mrs. Harrington provides a fitting opportunity to honor this exceptional Texan, who continues to brighten the lives of all who know her; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby warmly congratulate Donna Belle Boggess Harrington on the momentous occasion of her 105th birthday and extend to her sincere best wishes for much happiness; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Mrs. Harrington as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
