H.R. No. 248
R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, August 31, 2005, marks the retirement of R. T.
Bridges as Quitman city secretary after 14 years of outstanding
service; and
WHEREAS, A graduate of Quitman High School, Mr. Bridges has
spent the greater part of his life in his beloved hometown, where he
has lived continuously since 1970; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Bridges brought the experience he gained during
his career with Butler Paper Company in Tyler to his work as city
secretary, and his considerable knowledge and expertise have been
invaluable to his colleagues in public service; and
WHEREAS, Throughout his career, he has enjoyed the support of
his loving family, which includes his daughter and son-in-law,
Tanya and Don Weems, and his grandsons, Jody and Josh; and
WHEREAS, Those individuals who give generously of their time
and talents in behalf of their fellow Texans are truly worthy of our
respect and admiration, and in dedicating himself to the worthwhile
work of civic governance for the past 14 years, R. T. Bridges has
distinguished himself as one such individual; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas
Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby congratulate R. T. Bridges
on the occasion of his retirement from the City of Quitman and
extend to him sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Mr. Bridges as an expression of high regard by the
Texas House of Representatives.
