H.R. No. 249
R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, July 2, 2005, was a special day indeed, as it marked
the 50th wedding anniversary of Ralph and Norma Jo Cole of Pilot
Point, and we join their family members and many friends in
congratulating them on this memorable milestone; and
WHEREAS, Ralph Leslie "Buddy" Cole, Jr., and Norma Jo Woodrum
first met as students at Denton High School, and they continued to
date as undergraduates at North Texas State University; and
WHEREAS, The childhood sweethearts were married on July 2,
1955, at St. David's Episcopal Church in Denton, and their
relationship has continued to grow in mutual admiration, affection,
and respect; and
WHEREAS, Over the years, Mr. and Mrs. Cole have taken great
pride and pleasure in the growth of their family, which includes
their sons, Les and Alan, and their grandchildren, Amy, Leslie,
Hallie, Claire, Will, Ryan, Ramsey, and Rebecca, and they also draw
strength and support from the community of worship at the First
United Methodist Church of Pilot Point, where theirs is a welcome
presence; and
WHEREAS, Mrs. Cole retired after teaching elementary school
for 32 years and now serves on the Planning and Zoning Commission in
Pilot Point; Mr. Cole is a former Denton County judge and county
commissioner who continues his avocation of writing nature columns;
and
WHEREAS, In celebrating their golden wedding anniversary,
Buddy and Norma Jo Cole offer eloquent testimony to the value of
commitment and the power of enduring love, and their marriage is an
inspiration and a joy to all those fortunate enough to know them;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas
Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby honor Ralph Leslie Cole,
Jr., and Norma Jo Cole on the occasion of their 50th wedding
anniversary and extend to them sincere best wishes for continued
happiness; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Mr. and Mrs. Cole as an expression of high regard by
the Texas House of Representatives.
