R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, In the wake of the terrorist bombings in London on
July 7, 2005, citizens throughout the world have reacted with
outrage and sorrow at this horrific attack on the British capital's
transit system and civilian populace; and
WHEREAS, At least 50 morning commuters have been confirmed
dead, with some 700 others injured in the four bombings; within
minutes, three subway trains were hit, taking many innocent lives
and wreaking havoc on the London Underground; less than an hour
after the initial explosion, one of the city's famed double-decker
buses was ripped apart by explosives, leaving at least 13 more
people dead; and
WHEREAS, In this time of great human loss, our hearts go out
to the victims of this violent tragedy and to their families;
moreover, we wish to express our admiration for the many rescue
workers and volunteers who have helped to protect and comfort those
whose lives have been forever changed by the bombings; and
WHEREAS, Moving forward in the aftermath of this devastating
incident will be a formidable challenge, yet by demonstrating a
determination to restore normalcy, those affected send an important
message of solidarity and hope that is shared by the members of this
chamber; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas
Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby pay tribute to the victims
of the London subway and bus bombings of July 7, 2005, and express
heartfelt sympathy to those whose loved ones were lost or injured in
this barbaric and senseless attack.
