R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, June 28, 2005, marked the 50th wedding anniversary of Carl and Alice Williams of Midland, and the couple celebrated this special occasion as the guests of honor at a reception hosted by their children at St. Luke's United Methodist Church on June 25; and WHEREAS, Mr. Williams and the former Alice Crockett were joined in matrimony on June 28, 1955, at the First Methodist Church in Spur; they have since nurtured a warm and fulfilling relationship that has brought them much happiness and a close-knit family that includes their children, Michael T. Williams and Renee W. Lawrence, and four grandchildren; and WHEREAS, Currently employed as the office manager for Fitz-Co. Sound, Inc., Mrs. Williams has previously worked for an Alpine cotton gin and butane company, Big Bend Telephone Company, and a Midland land development company, and as traffic manager for KNAM-KNFM during her career; and WHEREAS, Mr. Williams is a genealogist for the Midland County Public Library who has also enjoyed a rich and diverse career in which he has been employed as a teacher and coach in Socorro, as a deputy sheriff in El Paso County, as the sheriff of Brewster County, and as an employee of the Texas Department of Public Safety; moreover, he was the owner of Marc Photography and worked in field services with the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement Officer Standards and Education; and WHEREAS, For 35 years Mr. and Mrs. Williams have made their home in Midland, where they are congregants of St. Luke's United Methodist Church; active in the community, Mrs. Williams is a member of Beta Sigma Phi and Phi Mu, while Mr. Williams, a retired colonel with the Texas State Guard, enjoys membership with the Sons of Confederate Veterans and participates in a number of law enforcement and photography associations; and WHEREAS, Together, Carl and Alice Williams have shared the blessings and challenges of marriage and parenthood, and they remain a source of inspiration and joy to their loved ones; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby congratulate Carl and Alice Williams on their 50th wedding anniversary and extend to them sincere best wishes for continued happiness; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Mr. and Mrs. Williams as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
