H.R. No. 291R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, The 90th birthday of a notable Texan is indeed a cause for celebration, and on September 7, 2005, Dr. Floyd Verheyden of Jacksonville is celebrating this special event in his life; and WHEREAS, Dr. Verheyden was born on September 7, 1915, in Waxahachie and attended Waxahachie High School; he studied at The University of Texas at Austin, where he earned a degree in pharmacy, and he became a member of the inaugural class at Southwestern Medical School; after serving with distinction in the U.S. Army Medical Corps in Regensburg, Germany, Dr. Verheyden returned to Texas and moved to Jacksonville, where he enjoyed a successful 35-year career in internal medicine with the Travis Clinic Association; and WHEREAS, The recipient of the 2004 Jacksonville Outstanding Citizen Award, Dr. Verheyden continues to share his time and talents with others as an active and valued member of his community and remains a source of inspiration and admiration to his family members and friends; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby congratulate Dr. Floyd Verheyden on the joyous occasion of his 90th birthday and extend to him warmest best wishes for continued happiness; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Dr. Verheyden as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
