H.R. No. 292
R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Katie Elizabeth Mannis has been crowned Queen of the
68th East Texas Yamboree; and
WHEREAS, An accomplished student, athlete, and leader, Ms.
Mannis has proven herself to be a talented and well-rounded young
woman; in addition to being listed on the National Honor Roll, she
has served on the student council, played volleyball, and been a
part of the district champion golf team; and
WHEREAS, Ms. Mannis has also participated in the Buckeye Band
for five years and served as a majorette; outside of her many school
activities, she is a parishioner of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic
Church and has studied piano for the past decade; and
WHEREAS, This notable Texan is a member of the National
Society of High School Scholars and has been recognized in Who's Who
Among American High School Students and as a USAA National Scholar
Student; her future plans include attending the University of
Arkansas; and
WHEREAS, A source of great pride for her parents, Perry and
Karen Mannis, Katie Mannis is an outstanding representative of her
community, and it is a pleasure to honor her on her recent
achievement; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas
Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby congratulate Katie
Elizabeth Mannis on being named Queen of the 68th East Texas
Yamboree and extend to her sincere best wishes for continued
success; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Ms. Mannis as an expression of high regard by the Texas
House of Representatives.
