R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, The untimely passing of Jose "Rene" De La Torre of
San Antonio, on July 10, 2005, at the age of 20, has brought a great
loss to the family and many friends of this beloved young man; and
WHEREAS, Born on October 16, 1984, to proud parents Rene and
Martha De La Torre, he touched many people in his lifetime with his
humor, charm, and compassion; he benefited tremendously from the
love and support of his family, and in return he brought joy and
affection into their lives and into the lives of his high school
sweetheart, Stephanie, and his closest friends, George, Daniel,
Chris, Said, Ruben, and Stephen; and
WHEREAS, A graduate of South San Antonio High School, Mr. De
La Torre was a natural athlete who loved playing baseball,
football, and basketball; and
WHEREAS, He chose accounting as his academic focus at Palo
Alto College, where he enjoyed the camaraderie of many classmates
and could often be seen on campus wearing an irrepressible smile;
and
WHEREAS, Although it is painful to say good-bye to one so
young and full of promise, it is fitting to remember that while his
time on this earth was far too brief, Rene De La Torre profoundly
affected the lives of those around him, and he leaves behind a
legacy to treasure for those who held him dear; now, therefore, be
it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas
Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby pay tribute to the life of
Jose "Rene" De La Torre and extend deepest sympathy to the members
of his family: to his parents, Rene and Martha De La Torre; to his
sisters, Christina and Lilian; to his brothers-in-law, Jorge and
Marcus; to his nieces and nephew, George, Daisy, and Cleo; to his
girlfriend, Stephanie; and to his other relatives and many friends;
and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Jose "Rene"
De La Torre.
