R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, The Honorable Craig Martin, mayor of Converse, and
his wife, Lisa, are celebrating their 25th wedding anniversary on
July 26, 2005, and their inspirational union remains as strong
today as ever before; and
WHEREAS, United in matrimony at Mather Air Force Base on July
26, 1980, the Martins met at a Bible study class while living in
Sacramento, California; they have since lived in Texas, Indiana,
New Mexico, Guam, and Germany, enjoying many adventures with their
children, Jared and Jennifer, during their time in the Air Force;
and
WHEREAS, In 1996, Mrs. Martin's Texas roots helped bring the
couple to Converse, where her husband quickly immersed himself in
local politics; experienced in public affairs, he earned election
as mayor in 1999 and subsequently won re-election three times, one
of only two Converse mayors to accomplish that feat; and
WHEREAS, Although the four-time mayor claims that playing
guitar is his favorite hobby, his wife often wonders whether his
true favorite pastime is buying guitars; regardless, the couple can
often be found making music together or pursuing hobbies such as
range shooting or photography; they also take great pride in their
grandchildren, Andrew, Bo, Bella, and Melanie Ortega; and
WHEREAS, For 25 years, Craig and Lisa Martin have shared a
relationship built on love, trust, and mutual understanding, and it
is indeed a pleasure to join in honoring this remarkable couple on
this important milestone in their lives; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas
Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby congratulate Mayor Craig
Martin and Lisa Martin on the occasion of their 25th wedding
anniversary and extend best wishes to them for many more years of
happiness together; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for the Martins as an expression of high regard by the
Texas House of Representatives.
