R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, David E. Smithkey, CLU, is president-elect of the
National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors (NAIFA),
and his visit to the State of Texas provides a fitting opportunity
to recognize his accomplishments; and
WHEREAS, A resident of Flushing, Michigan, Mr. Smithkey first
entered the insurance business in 1981, and he is currently a
principal with Security First Benefits Corporation in Flint; and
WHEREAS, He has served as president of the Flint and Michigan
chapters of NAIFA, which is a national nonprofit organization
representing the interests of more than 70,000 insurance and
financial advisors; before his election in 2004, Mr. Smithkey
served as a trustee of the association and acted as chair of the
NAIFA Transformation Task Force, "The Commitment to Excellence";
and
WHEREAS, His other professional affiliations include
membership in the Million Dollar Round Table, the Association for
Advanced Life Underwriting, the National Association of Health
Underwriters, The American College, the Society for Financial
Service Professionals, the Golden Key Society, and the Flint Estate
Planning Council; and
WHEREAS, Dedicated to the needs of his community, Mr.
Smithkey is also an active civic leader, and currently serves as an
elder at Emanuel Lutheran Church; moreover, he is a former
president and honorary board member of the Genesee Valley Chapter
of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation; and
WHEREAS, David Smithkey has made important contributions to
the insurance and financial industries for several decades, and his
leadership is a valuable asset to all who work in this field; now,
therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas
Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby congratulate David E.
Smithkey on his election as president of the National Association
of Insurance and Financial Advisors and extend to him sincere best
wishes for an enjoyable visit to the Lone Star State; and, be it
further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Mr. Smithkey as an expression of high regard by the
Texas House of Representatives.
