H.R. No. 336
R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Descendants of Andrew Mason gathered in Austin on
July 1-3, 2005, for the happy occasion of a family reunion; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Mason had three daughters, Mary, Mittie, and
Ellen, who married into the Crawford, Hurley, and Stackhouse
families, respectively; and
WHEREAS, Today, the descendants of Andrew Mason take great
pride in their forebears and give thanks for their rich heritage and
their thriving extended family; and
WHEREAS, The year 2005 marked the 15th gathering of the
Crawford and Hurley families since the first reunion was organized
in 1977, and attendees assembled from throughout the United States
to be together as the nation observed its annual celebration of
independence; and
WHEREAS, Special tribute was paid to the oldest and youngest
founding members from each family: Frederick Crawford, Sr., and
Charlene Edmonson, representing the Crawfords, and Leola Rush and
Edward Hurley, representing the Hurleys; and
WHEREAS, Through the years, the contributions made by the
descendants of Andrew Mason have been interwoven in the compelling
story of the Lone Star State, and the families' selection of Texas
as the site of the 2005 reunion provides a fitting occasion on which
to honor the members of this notable group; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas
Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby warmly congratulate the
organizers and participants of the 15th Crawford/Hurley family
reunion and extend to all those involved sincere best wishes for
many more opportunities to gather with their relations.
