R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Zelma L. Ridley of Duncanville has been selected as the recipient of a 2005 Outstanding Texan Award in the area of professional service by the Texas Legislative Black Caucus; and WHEREAS, Outstanding Texans are honored for the positive impact they make in their communities, and Ms. Ridley's remarkable service has truly enhanced the lives of many individuals in the Dallas area; and WHEREAS, For 15 years, Ms. Ridley has worked for Dallas Area Rapid Transit, most recently as a transportation operations analyst responsible for assisting bus operators in their daily service and providing technical support to the transportation department; she has previously been an essential part of DART operations as a senior manager for bus operations support, a transportation specialist, and a maintenance project administrator; and WHEREAS, Before her successful tenure with DART, this esteemed professional was a senior budget analyst for the City of Dallas and a senior internal control analyst for Atlantic Richfield Company; she received her bachelor's degree from The University of Texas at El Paso and her master's degree from the University of Southern California; and WHEREAS, Dedicated to the needs of her community, Ms. Ridley has consistently contributed her time to local organizations, including the Dallas chapter of the NAACP and Elks Sunrise Temple No. 751 of Dallas as well as several political campaigns and voter registration drives; a woman of deep faith, she is a member of Saint John Missionary Baptist Church, where she serves as assistant secretary of the usher board; and WHEREAS, Zelma L. Ridley has earned the respect and admiration of her family, friends, and colleagues through her professional accomplishments and exceptional service to her community; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby commend Zelma L. Ridley on being named the recipient of a 2005 Outstanding Texan Award by the Texas Legislative Black Caucus in the professional field and extend best wishes to her for continued success and happiness; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Ms. Ridley as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
