R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, A half-century of marriage is truly a memorable milestone, and on July 7, 2005, John and Lena Ochsner of Midland observed this significant event in their lives with a family celebration; and WHEREAS, John Dorr Ochsner and his bride, the former Lena Frances Schmidt, were joined in matrimony on July 7, 1955, in a ceremony held in Slaton; the couple take great pride in their close-knit family, which includes their children, John D. Ochsner II, Dr. Robert Ochsner and his wife, Lyn, and Julie K. Ochsner, as well as their grandchildren, Alexandra, Amy, Miles, John, Jennifer, and Kirsten; and WHEREAS, A dedicated homemaker throughout her marriage, Mrs. Ochsner has also played an active role in her church and community as a volunteer since she and her family moved from Dallas to Midland in 1960; Mr. Ochsner is a veteran of the U.S. Army, in which he served as a commissioned officer, and today he is self-employed as a natural gas consultant; like his wife, he has long shared his time and energy to benefit others through his involvement in numerous church and civic endeavors; and WHEREAS, Together, Mr. and Mrs. Ochsner have nurtured a strong bond of love and filled each other's lives with joy, and their enduring union remains an inspiration to all those who hold them dear; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby congratulate John and Lena Ochsner on their 50th wedding anniversary and extend to them heartfelt best wishes for continued happiness; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Mr. and Mrs. Ochsner as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
