R E S O L U T I O N
	WHEREAS, Residents of Southeast Dallas are joining with 
thousands of other Americans across the country in observing the 
22nd Annual National Night Out crime and drug prevention event on 
August 2, 2005; and
	WHEREAS, Sponsored by the National Association of Town Watch, 
National Night Out is held to increase awareness and prevention of 
crime, drugs, and violence, foster support for participation in 
local anticrime efforts, strengthen neighborhood spirit and 
police-community collaboration, and notify criminals that 
neighborhoods are unified and committed to a crime-free 
environment; and
	WHEREAS, The Southeast Dallas Coalition, in conjunction with 
the Pleasant Grove Weed and Seed Program, is hosting this local 
observance for the third consecutive year; offering food, fun, and 
fellowship, the evening promises to be both an enjoyable and 
educational event for all concerned; and
	WHEREAS, The importance of crime prevention cannot be 
overstated, and in hosting the National Night Out observance, 
organizers of the event are affirming their commitment to making 
their community stronger and safer; now, therefore, be it
	RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas 
Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby recognize August 2, 2005, 
as National Night Out in Southeast Dallas and extend to all 
participants and sponsors sincere best wishes for a successful 
event.
