R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Residents of Dallas are joining with thousands of other Americans across the country in observing the 22nd Annual National Night Out crime and drug prevention event on August 2, 2005; and WHEREAS, National Night Out is held to increase awareness and prevention of crime, drugs, and violence, foster support for and participation in local anti-crime efforts, strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community collaboration, and notify criminals that neighborhoods are unified and committed to a crime-free environment; and WHEREAS, Sponsored by the Methodist Health System Police Department and Volunteers in Policing, the Dallas observance promises to be a memorable evening, complete with entertainment, food, vendors, live music, tours of emergency and military vehicles, and appearances by McGruff the Crime Dog and other special guests; and WHEREAS, Texans remain steadfast in their ongoing commitment to ensuring the safety and well-being of families in their communities, and their participation in this yearly tradition serves as an important resource in their efforts to achieve this worthy goal; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby recognize August 2, 2005, as National Night Out in Dallas and extend best wishes to its participants and organizers for a successful event.
