H.R. No. 350



R E S O L U T I O N
	WHEREAS, Residents of Kendall County and visitors alike are 
gathering in Boerne to celebrate the 100th annual Kendall County 
Fair on September 1 through September 4, 2005; and
	WHEREAS, Founded in 1905, the fair was first held at the 
Boerne Opera House near the main plaza of the city of Boerne, a 
charming Hill Country town with a distinctive German heritage; in 
1913, a group of enterprising residents formed the Kendall County 
Fair Association, a nonprofit organization that provides 
agricultural education to young people and encourages farming and 
ranching in the community; and
	WHEREAS, During the association's first meeting, its members 
accepted a gift of 56 acres, now known as Herff Park and the site of 
the annual fair; held during Labor Day weekend, the event gives 
those in attendance the opportunity to participate in agricultural 
development and displays the best products and livestock in Kendall 
County; and
	WHEREAS, This year's festivities will also include the 
selection of the Kendall County Fair and Rodeo Queen and her court, 
an exhibit of arts, crafts, and antiques, a parade, nightly rodeos, 
and a special fireworks display in honor of the fair's centennial; 
and
	WHEREAS, The Kendall County Fair provides a time for many 
area Texans to set aside the cares of daily life and enjoy the rich 
cultural history of the city of Boerne and surrounding communities, 
and it is a privilege to recognize the county's residents on this 
special occasion; now, therefore, be it
	RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas 
Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby commemorate the 100th 
anniversary of the Kendall County Fair and extend to all those 
associated with the event sincere best wishes for a memorable 
celebration; and, be it further
	RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 
prepared for the members of the Kendall County Fair Association as 
an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
