H.R. No. 372



R E S O L U T I O N
	WHEREAS, Carmen S. Duarte has made significant contributions 
to the El Paso community through her service in the Democratic Party 
and as an employee with El Paso ISD, and such a noteworthy record 
indeed merits special commendation; and
	WHEREAS, An outstanding former student of Jefferson High 
School, Mrs. Duarte has had an impressive 33-year career with El 
Paso ISD; her accomplishments also include being a PTA president of 
three schools in El Paso ISD and secretary of the city council of 
the PTA; and
	WHEREAS, Mrs. Duarte has been a Democratic precinct chair for 
22 years, and in May 2004, she was elected El Paso County Democratic 
Chair; she also serves her fellow citizens as a member of Tejano 
Democrats, El Paso Chapter, and her exceptional work has been 
recognized with her induction into the Democratic Party Hall of 
Fame; and
	WHEREAS, In addition to her involvement in these professional 
and political activities, Mrs. Duarte has shared her time and 
talents in work with the St. Jude's Children's Cancer Hospital; and
	WHEREAS, Mrs. Duarte, who has been married for 49 years and is 
the mother of three children, is a tremendous source of inspiration 
to her family and friends, and she may take great pride in her 
accomplishments; now, therefore, be it
	RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas 
Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby honor Carmen S. Duarte for 
her outstanding service to the El Paso community and extend to her 
best wishes for the future; and, be it further
	RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 
prepared for Mrs. Duarte as an expression of high regard by the 
Texas House of Representatives.
