R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Gerald L. Davis of Austin was elected chair of the Goodwill Industries International, Inc., board of directors in June 2005; and WHEREAS, The president and CEO of Goodwill Industries of Central Texas, Mr. Davis began his career with the nonprofit in 1993 as president and CEO of the Sandusky Bay Area Goodwill Industries in Ohio; under his leadership for the past seven years, the Austin Goodwill has doubled its total operating revenue and has distinguished itself as a leading retail performer, electronic recycler, and provider of temporary services for people with disabilities; moreover, the agency has earned the 2004 Samaritan Center Ethics in Business Award and the 2002 Annie E. Casey Family Strengthening Award; and WHEREAS, Active in numerous community and professional organizations, Mr. Davis has chaired the Texas Association of Goodwills, the Southwest Association of Goodwills, and the Texas Association of Community Rehab Providers, and served on boards and advisory groups for Goodwill Global, Inc., Texas Industries for the Blind and Handicapped, and University Federal Credit Union; he is also a member of the Austin Downtown Rotary Club; and WHEREAS, With his invaluable experience, a record of innovation, and plans to focus on enhancing leadership development and collaboration between Goodwills, Jerry Davis will undoubtedly be of great benefit to the organization throughout his term; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby congratulate Gerald L. Davis on being named chair of the Goodwill Industries International, Inc., board of directors and extend to him sincere best wishes for a successful tenure; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Mr. Davis as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
