                                                                  H.R. No. 399



R E S O L U T I O N
	WHEREAS, Bruce Luster of McKinney has been shining shoes for 
the residents of Collin County for more than 75 years; and
	WHEREAS, Born in 1911, Mr. Luster moved to Collin County as a 
child and grew up working alongside his parents and siblings in the 
fields; at the age of 16, he began shining shoes at the Palace 
Barbershop, and he eventually went into business for himself and 
has been self-employed for more than 50 years; and
	WHEREAS, Mr. Luster has shined the shoes of generations of 
Texas families; his professionalism, fairness, and admirable sense 
of independence have earned him a large and loyal clientele, which 
has included dignitaries and elected officials, such as former 
McKinney Mayor John E. Gay, who declared February 23, 1996, as Bruce 
Luster Day; and
	WHEREAS, Also known for his dedication to the welfare of 
others, Bruce Luster has earned the lasting respect and affection 
of individuals from all ages and walks of life, and it is indeed a 
pleasure to honor him at this time; now, therefore, be it
	RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas 
Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby congratulate Bruce Luster 
on his lengthy career and extend to him sincere best wishes for the 
future; and, be it further
	RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 
prepared for Mr. Luster as an expression of high regard by the Texas 
House of Representatives.
