R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, May 12, 2005, was truly a momentous day in the long and happy life of Ross Snodgrass, for on that day, he celebrated his 102nd birthday; and WHEREAS, Mr. Snodgrass was born in 1903 on the Divide near Mountain Home, and his uniquely Texan upbringing on a ranch instilled in him a sterling work ethic and perseverance that have served him well throughout his many years; a noted cowboy who participated in the last cattle drive to Kerr County in 1925, he later owned his own ranch, T and Lazy T Ranch, where he lived and worked until his retirement and move to Kerrville in 1968; and WHEREAS, While his has been a rich life, it has been made doubly so by the love and support of his wife and soulmate, Clarabelle Victoria Barton, with whom he celebrated 72 years of marriage on July 1, 2005, and who finally granted him a reprieve from his lawn mowing duties when he turned 100; the proud parents of Jeri and David, the couple met at a dance and can still be seen waltzing across Texas today; and WHEREAS, At 102 years of age, Ross Snodgrass continues to enjoy life to the fullest, bringing joy to those who share in his warmth and affection; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby congratulate Ross Snodgrass on his 102nd birthday and extend to him sincere best wishes for nothing but blue skies ahead; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Mr. Snodgrass as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
