H.R. No. 426


R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, The certain knowledge of a life well lived may temper the profound sadness that the passing of Alvin J. Grahmann on May 28, 2005, brings to all who cared for this esteemed gentleman; and WHEREAS, Born in Hallettsville on March 14, 1925, he was the youngest of 10 children of Frank and Antoinette Grahmann; and WHEREAS, Mr. Grahmann married the former Adela Etzler on October 28, 1947, in a ceremony held in Hallettsville, and the couple enjoyed a warm and fulfilling marriage that spanned more than 57 years; and WHEREAS, Widely admired for his honesty and hard work, he was owner and operator of Grahmann's True Value Store, Inc., with locations in Hallettsville and Schulenburg; and WHEREAS, Mr. Grahmann was deeply committed to his faith and his community; he was a member of the Knights of Columbus and of Sacred Heart Parish in Hallettsville and St. Rose of Lima Parish in Schulenburg; he was also a member of the Hallettsville Industrial Corporation, belonged to the volunteer fire department and chamber of commerce in Hallettsville and Schulenburg, and was a charter member and advisory board member of the National Retail Hardware Association; and WHEREAS, A man who treasured his family and wide circle of friends, Mr. Grahmann will long be remembered with great love and affection; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby pay tribute to the life of Alvin J. Grahmann and extend deepest sympathy to the members of his family: to his wife, Adela Grahmann; to his children and their spouses, Linda and Ron Wright, Barbara and Don Rainosek, Alvin Paul and Barbara Grahmann, Forrest and Chris Grahmann, Michael and Janice Grahmann, and Mark and Pam Grahmann; to his 15 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; to his sister, Wilhelmina Zafereo; and to all who mourn the passing of this beloved man; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Alvin J.
