SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 2
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
recognize George Tamayo, who retired in May, 2005, after 29 years
of loyal service with the Office of the Comptroller of Public
Accounts; and
WHEREAS, George joined the comptroller's office in 1976 and
served in the Revenue Accounting Division before becoming area
manager for the Revenue Management Division; he was a valuable
manager in several divisions in the comptroller's office,
including the Fund Accounting Division and the Revenue Refunds
Division, and he ended his career as manager of the Unclaimed
Property Division, where he had program oversight responsibilities
for the $1.3 billion Texas Unclaimed Property program; and
WHEREAS, He has been noted for his superior organizational
skills and accounting expertise in whatever job he tackled; and
WHEREAS, A talented and resourceful individual,
George Tamayo has handled his many responsibilities with exceptional
efficiency and dedication and is admired and respected by his
colleagues; his presence in the Office of the Comptroller of
Public Accounts will be greatly missed; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
79th Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby commend George Tamayo
on his exceptional service and his many contributions to our
state and extend to him best wishes for the retirement years
ahead; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
him as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
