SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 4
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to recognize the Thorndale High School baseball team for winning the Class 1A state championship title at Dell Diamond in Round Rock on June 9, 2005; and WHEREAS, The Thorndale Bulldogs came into the Class 1A playoffs with great determination to capture the state title after losing in the regional finals last year; after a great start in the championship game, the Bulldogs saw their 5-0 lead shrink during the middle innings as the Harleton High School Wildcats worked their way back into the game and pulled even in the bottom of the seventh inning; and WHEREAS, The Bulldogs then put together their biggest two-out rally of the season as tournament Most Valuable Player Jeffrey Kiesling delivered an RBI double that sparked a five-run inning that helped the Bulldogs to a 10-5 victory; and WHEREAS, The Bulldogs were the favorites coming into the state finals this year, and they did not disappoint their fans, as they took their first state championship title since 1996; each member of the team displayed outstanding teamwork and the discipline instilled in them by head coach Scott Holder and assistant coaches Robert Lindemann and Kelly Kuhl; and WHEREAS, The champion athletes are Victor Reyes, Ross Towery, Austin Falke, Chris Gerren, Jeff Kiesling, Kalen Revia, Wade Gilchrist, Cirilio Reyes, Miles Grisham, Ryan Lindemann, Jon Laffere, Josh Culp, Kevin Zuehlke, Colby Hilton, Jacob Loftin, Grant Griffin, Dylan Schwarz, Eric Carrazales, and Dylan Piper; and WHEREAS, With a state championship title and a season record of 33-5, the Bulldogs have much reason to celebrate, and Thorndale High School and members of the Thorndale community can be justifiably proud of their baseball team; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 79th Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby congratulate the Thorndale High School baseball team on winning the Class 1A state championship title and commend the players and coaches for their outstanding achievements; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared as a token of esteem from the Texas Senate.
