SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 35
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to recognize Renee Watson, who was recently named the San Antonio District Office and Region VI 2005 Minority Small Business Champion of the Year by the United States Small Business Administration; and WHEREAS, Renee Watson is the program manager of the Small, Minority, and Women-Owned Business Enterprise Program with Bexar County; her position entails coordinating, facilitating, implementing, and monitoring the program; in her capacity as manager, she serves as a liaison between the business enterprise program and Bexar County to ensure that program members have access to opportunities with the county; and WHEREAS, In her effort to increase participation of program members and to verify contracting opportunities for them, Renee established a tracking system for Bexar County that reviews the program's practices and assesses and recommends improvements; and WHEREAS, In 2001, she launched the first annual Small, Minority, and Women-Owned Business Enterprise Conference in San Antonio, which provided vendors with essential information and tools to establish a beneficial business relationship with governmental agencies; and WHEREAS, Renee Watson has proved to be a passionate champion for minority business enterprises; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 79th Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby commend Renee Watson for her many achievements and congratulate her on being named San Antonio District Office and Region VI 2005 Minority Small Business Champion of the Year; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for her as an expression of high regard from the Texas Senate.
