SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 45
In Memory
of
Dr. Sidney Earle Isdale
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the citizens
of Killeen in mourning the loss of Dr. Sidney Earle Isdale, who
died May 8, 2005, at the age of 77; and
WHEREAS, For 56 years, Dr. Sidney Isdale served as a pillar
of the Killeen community through his involvement with its citizens
and civic life; and
WHEREAS, Born May 11, 1927, in DeQuincy, Louisiana,
Sidney Isdale was raised in San Antonio; he graduated from Texas
Chiropractic College in 1949; he then moved with his family to
Killeen and began his practice; and
WHEREAS, Known as "Dr. Sid," he was a highly respected
community leader whose civic contributions were numerous, and he
left a lasting imprint on the city of Killeen; a member and
president of the Kiwanis Club, he helped establish the Killeen
Public Library; he was a member of the Harker Heights and
Greater Killeen Chambers of Commerce, a patron of the Eastern Star,
and a founding member of Lifeway Fellowship; and
WHEREAS, A member of the Killeen City Council for eight
years, Dr. Sid used that post to consider how each action of
the council affected the city and its residents; his civic
involvement grew to include statewide concerns when he was
appointed by the governor to the Texas Board of Chiropractic
Examiners; and
WHEREAS, A man of integrity, strength, and generosity,
Dr. Isdale gave willingly of his time and energy to others, and
his wisdom, warmth, and valued counsel will not be forgotten by
those who knew him; and
WHEREAS, Sidney Isdale lived his life to the fullest and
was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, and he leaves
behind memories that will be cherished forever by his family
and many friends; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
79th Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby extend sincere
condolences to the bereaved family of Dr. Sidney Earle Isdale:
his wife of 55 years, Jeanne Isdale; his sons, Skip, Scott,
Stan, Stuart, and Shawn Isdale; and his 13 grandchildren and
great-grandchild; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
the members of his family as an expression of deepest sympathy
from the Texas Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this
day, it do so in memory of Dr. Sidney Earle Isdale.
