SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 56

	WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to 
recognize John Hybner on the occasion of his retirement as 
brewmaster at Spoetzl Brewery in Shiner after almost 40 years
of service to the company; and

	WHEREAS, John began his career at Spoetzl Brewery, one of 
the country's leading independent breweries, on February 14, 1966,
and he retired May 31, 2005; and

	WHEREAS, Spoetzl Brewery is home to Shiner beer and is
now owned by the Gambrinus Company of San Antonio; Shiner beer 
can be found today in more than 20 states with some 5,600 cases 
distributed daily; and

	WHEREAS, In recognition of John's dedication and many 
contributions to the success of Spoetzl Brewery over the
years, a dinner was held in his honor on June 23, 2005, which
was attended by more than 200 of his friends and colleagues, 
including Shiner residents and other brewmasters; and

	WHEREAS, Talented and energetic, John is admired and 
respected by all who know him, and his dedicated leadership at 
Spoetzl Brewery will be greatly missed; now, therefore, be it

	RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
79th Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby commend John Hybner
on his exceptional career and extend to him best wishes for the 
retirement years ahead; and, be it further

	RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for 
him as an expression of high regard from the Texas Senate.
