SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 60
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
recognize Whitney Boyce of Utopia for winning this year's Future
Entrepreneur Award; and
WHEREAS, Presented annually by the National Association
for the Self-Employed, this award is given to a young man or woman
who demonstrates leadership, academic excellence, ingenuity, and
entrepreneurial spirit; and
WHEREAS, In 2003, Whitney used her talent and passion
for photography to form her own business, Paradise Prints; she
photographs the local landscape and scenery, then sells her
framed photos, along with pillows and notecards, at a shop in
Utopia; and
WHEREAS, Whitney graduated valedictorian of Utopia
High School in May of 2005; she will use the scholarship prize
presented with the award to attend Texas Tech University, where
she is one of only 10 students accepted into the Texas Tech
Undergraduate Medical School Initiative program for the
2005-2006 school year; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
79th Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby commend Whitney Boyce
for her initiative and imagination in starting her own business
and congratulate her for winning the prestigious Future
Entrepreneur Award; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
her as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
