SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 76

	WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to 
recognize John Daniel Jackson, Sr., on the grand occasion of his 
80th birthday on July 23, 2005; and

	WHEREAS, This distinguished gentleman is well known for 
his wisdom and generosity of spirit, and he is an admired and 
respected citizen of Houston; and

	WHEREAS, John was born July 23, 1925, to Steve Jackson and 
Ardella Smith Jackson; in 1948, he married Maggie Lee Jones, and 
the couple raised four children; and

	WHEREAS, Dedicated to his family, John instilled in his 
children the values and self-respect that have made them 
honorable, contributing members of their communities and loving, 
trusted parents and friends; and

	WHEREAS, A devout Christian and an exemplary leader in his 
community, John is noted for his courage, his compassion for 
others, and his enthusiasm for living each day to the fullest; 
now, therefore, be it

	RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
79th Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby honor
John Daniel Jackson, Sr., on the joyous occasion of his 80th 
birthday and extend to him best wishes for the future; and, be it 
further

	RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for 
him as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
