SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 101
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
recognize James C. Birdsong, Jr., for his many contributions to
the San Francisco Bay Area, the young people of our country, and
the gospel music industry; and
WHEREAS, Gospel artist, minister, author, and motivational
speaker, James Birdsong has dedicated his life to reaching out to
today's youth; and
WHEREAS, His most recent book, One Marriage, Many Tales,
And A Separation. . .A Message of Hope, a true-life story, is
being made into a motion picture, and James will be one of the
artists on the original soundtrack album; and
WHEREAS, In addition to his contributions to his native
Bay Area, James has traveled throughout the country spreading his
message of hope, commitment, and unity; his name will soon be
added to the Wall of Tolerance by the Southern Poverty Law Center
in Montgomery, Alabama; and
WHEREAS, James is being honored with an appreciation event
on July 30 in Vallejo, California; the event is also a farewell
send-off for him as he prepares for his relocation to
Atlanta, Georgia; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
79th Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby commend
James C. Birdsong, Jr., for his endeavors to improve the lives of
young people and for his contributions to the gospel music
industry; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
him as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
