SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 104
In Memory
of
Alvaro Ramos, Jr.
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the citizens of Austin in mourning the loss of Alvaro Ramos, Jr., who died July 9, 2005; and WHEREAS, A graduate of H.M. King High School in Kingsville, Al earned a bachelor of science degree in business management from The University of Texas at Austin; and WHEREAS, Al worked for the Office of the Comptroller of Public Accounts for 23 years and retired as a supervisor in the Claims Division; while at the comptroller's office, he was a founding member of the Mexican American Comptroller Employees Association; and WHEREAS, Well known and respected in the community for his many activities and achievements, Al was a founding member of the Amigos Club with Saint Catherine of Siena Catholic Church, and he was active in Big Brothers Big Sisters, the Southwest Optimist Club, and the Parents Association of The University of Texas at Austin; and WHEREAS, A man of courage, strength, and compassion, Al gave generously of himself to others, and his wisdom, warmth, and valued counsel will not be forgotten by those who knew him; and WHEREAS, Al Ramos was a devoted husband and father, and he leaves behind memories that will be cherished forever by his family and many friends; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 79th Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved family of Alvaro Ramos, Jr.: his wife of 28 years, Lydia Guajardo Ramos; his sons, Scott Eric Ramos and Jacob Lee Ramos; his mother, Aida Ybanez Ramos; his sister, Anna McBee; and his brothers, Alan and Albert Ramos; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for the members of his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Alvaro Ramos, Jr. Barrientos ________________________________ President of the Senate I hereby certify that the above Resolution was adopted by the Senate on July 18, 2005, by a rising vote. ________________________________ Secretary of the Senate ________________________________ Member, Texas Senate
