SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 107
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
recognize the Jackson family, which will be celebrating its
family reunion July 23, 2005, in Houston; and
WHEREAS, The Jackson family has been celebrating the
spirit of family togetherness for almost 50 years with a family
reunion held annually on the fourth Saturday in July; the reunion
provides a rare opportunity for family members to share stories
and celebrate their heritage; and
WHEREAS, Family members travel from California, Oklahoma,
Florida, Washington, D.C., Georgia, New York, and other parts of
Texas to participate in the festivities; and
WHEREAS, At each reunion one of the senior family members
is honored, and Bay City resident Thelma Fountain has been
selected to be honored in 2005; and
WHEREAS, The members of this illustrious family have
instilled the virtues of love and hard work in their children,
and they have contributed greatly to their communities through
their leadership, integrity, and concern for others; and
WHEREAS, The 2005 reunion is a manifestation of the
family's pride in its legacy and of its commitment to family
unity and loyalty; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
79th Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby commend the members
of the Jackson family for remembering their heritage and extend
best wishes to them for a memorable family reunion; and, be it
further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
the members of the Jackson family as a memento of this special
occasion.
