SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 115

	WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to 
recognize Santos L. Lujan, Jr., of the Kermit Independent
School District, for his selection as a nominee for the annual 
Superintendent of the Year award sponsored by the Texas Association
of School Boards; and

	WHEREAS, Since 1984, the Superintendent of the Year award 
has recognized exemplary superintendents for excellence and 
achievement in educational administration; and

	WHEREAS, Candidates for this prestigious award are chosen 
for their strong leadership skills, their dedication to improving
educational quality, their ability to build effective employee 
relations, their students' educational performance, and their 
commitment to public involvement in education; and

	WHEREAS, One of 15 public school district superintendents 
nominated for the award, Santos has been superintendent of the 
Kermit Independent School District since 2001; the winner of the 
award will be announced September 24 at the Texas Association
of School Administrators/Texas Association of School Boards 
Convention; now, therefore, be it

	RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
79th Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby commend
Santos L. Lujan, Jr., for his excellent work in the field of 
education and congratulate him on his nomination to be 
Superintendent of the Year; and, be it further

	RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for 
him as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
