SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 116
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
recognize Lela Williamson Rosenberg on the grand occasion of her
98th birthday; and
WHEREAS, Well known for her charm and generosity of spirit,
Lela was born April 12, 1907, in Barstow, Ward County, Texas, to
Thomas Shepard Williamson and Laura Ann Williamson; and
WHEREAS, Lela was one of the original residents of
Pumpville, Val Verde County, Texas, and she spent her childhood
in Del Rio; following her graduation from Alpine College, she
returned to Del Rio where she taught during the Great Depression;
and
WHEREAS, Along with her beloved husband, Sam Rosenberg,
Lela spent many years in the vast frontier, teaching the Hopi,
Navajo, and Apache Native Americans; dedicated to the field of
education, her work in the teaching profession spanned 44 years;
and
WHEREAS, A beloved and respected member of her community,
Lela is noted for her courage, her compassion for others, and her
enthusiasm for living each day to the fullest; now, therefore,
be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
79th Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby recognize
Lela Williamson Rosenberg as a treasured citizen of the
Lone Star State; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
her as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
