SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 118

	WHEREAS, When they married many years ago, Angelina and 
Raul Mendez placed great faith and trust in the future, and they 
have been amply rewarded, as they recently celebrated their
50th wedding anniversary; and

	WHEREAS, Raul Rios Mendez and Angelina Chavez were married 
on May 21, 1955; the world has changed considerably during the 
years of their marriage, yet Mr. and Mrs. Mendez have continued 
to cherish traditional family values; and

	WHEREAS, Raul served his country for over 20 years in the 
Texas National Guard, and he faithfully provided for his family 
as a corporate vice president for Harry Joseph for over 40 years; 
and

	WHEREAS, Mr. and Mrs. Mendez have only grown stronger in 
their love and devotion as together they have experienced the 
joys and sorrows of everyday living; blessed with a wonderful 
family, they are beloved and respected by their children, 
Rolando, Angelica, and Armando; and

	WHEREAS, Raul and Angelina shared their happiness with 
their family and many friends at a reception in honor of their 
anniversary on May 21, 2005; now, therefore, be it

	RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
79th Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby extend sincere 
congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. Mendez on their golden wedding 
anniversary; and, be it further

	RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for 
them as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
