SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 122

	WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to 
recognize Van-Anh Nguyen, who has been awarded the Hibbs Scholarship
by the College of Liberal Arts of The University of Texas at Austin
for the 2005-2006 academic year; and

	WHEREAS, The Hibbs Scholarship aims to assist outstanding 
students in the College of Liberal Arts who otherwise must work 
to support themselves while attending school; and

	WHEREAS, Money awarded by the scholarship enables 
recipients to devote more time to such scholarly pursuits as 
completing a senior thesis or studying abroad, rather than having
to work to support themselves; and

	WHEREAS, Recipients of the Hibbs Scholarship have 
demonstrated significant academic success, and they contribute 
to the outstanding reputation of The University of Texas at Austin;
and

	WHEREAS, Van-Anh Nguyen has distinguished herself among 
her peers, and she is indeed worthy of this academic honor; now, 
therefore, be it

	RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
79th Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby commend Van-Anh Nguyen
on being awarded the Hibbs Scholarship by the College of Liberal 
Arts of The University of Texas at Austin; and, be it further

	RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for 
her as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
