SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 123

	WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to 
recognize Alia Avidan, who has been awarded the Zale Endowed 
Presidential Scholarship by the College of Liberal Arts of
The University of Texas at Austin for the 2005-2006 academic 
year; and

	WHEREAS, The Zale Endowed Presidential Scholarship aims to 
assist outstanding students in the College of Liberal Arts who 
must otherwise work to support themselves while attending 
school; and

	WHEREAS, Money awarded by the scholarship enables 
recipients to devote more time to such scholarly pursuits as 
completing a senior thesis or studying abroad; and

	WHEREAS, Recipients of the Zale Endowed Presidential 
Scholarship have demonstrated significant academic success, and 
they contribute greatly to the outstanding reputation of
The University of Texas at Austin; and

	WHEREAS, Alia Avidan has distinguished herself among her 
peers, and she is indeed worthy of this academic honor; now, 
therefore, be it

	RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
79th Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby commend Alia Avidan 
on being awarded the Zale Endowed Presidential Scholarship by the 
College of Liberal Arts of The University of Texas at Austin; 
and, be it further

	RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for 
her as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
