SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 126
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
recognize Janet D. Washington Collins for her outstanding work in
aiding the members of minority and underprivileged groups in our
state to achieve independence; and
WHEREAS, A gifted community leader, as well as a nurse, a
cosmetologist, and an accountant, Janet Collins has devoted
herself to ensuring that quality health care is available to all
who need it; her work in the community in the fields of education
and workforce development further serves to demonstrate her
dedication to the well-being of all; and
WHEREAS, A woman of many talents, Janet is well known for
the impact she has had through her lectures on faith-based
programs, grant writing, and health issues; and
WHEREAS, A respected humanitarian, Janet provides services
to those who most need it by working to improve access to quality
health care and by assisting physicians and nonprofit
organizations as they seek to reach the widest number of people;
and
WHEREAS, Janet Collins is an exceptionally dedicated and
resourceful woman who has been honored by the National Council of
Negro Women as an Outstanding Community Leader; now, therefore,
be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
79th Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby pay tribute to
Janet D. Washington Collins and join the citizens of her
community in celebrating November 23, 2005, as
Janet D. Washington Collins Day; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
her as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
