SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 138
WHEREAS, When they were married July 11, 1965, Judith Lynn Gomel and Mark G. Yudof placed great faith and trust in the future, and they have been amply rewarded, as they recently celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary; and WHEREAS, Over the years, Judy and Mark have lived rewarding lives together, and in 1993, they were the co-recipients of the Jewish National Fund Tree of Life Award; and WHEREAS, Judy is the international president of the United Synagogue of Conservative Judaism and is the first woman to serve in that capacity in the organization's 89-year history; and WHEREAS, As chancellor of The University of Texas System, Mark leads one of the nation's largest higher education systems; he served the university previously as faculty member, dean of the School of Law, executive vice president, and provost; and WHEREAS, The world has changed considerably during the years of their marriage, yet Mr. and Mrs. Yudof have cherished traditional family and moral values, and their children, Seth and Samara, continue to be a source of pride and joy; and WHEREAS, The long and happy union of this wonderful couple is truly an inspiration to all who know them; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 79th Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby congratulate Mark and Judy Yudof on their 40th wedding anniversary and extend to them best wishes for the future; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for this distinguished couple as a memento of this special occasion.
