AUTHOR'S/SPONSOR'S STATEMENT OF INTENT

In addition to his countless other contributions to Central Texas, the late congressman from Texas' 10th congressional district, J.J. "Jake" Pickle, secured the funding which made State Highway 130 possible.

As proposed, S.B. 32 designates SH 130, between the intersection of Interstate Highway 35 and State Highway 195 in Williamson County and Interstate Highway 10 in Guadalupe County, as the Pickle Parkway.  This initial 49-mile stretch of SH 130, which is part of the Central Texas Turnpike Project, is currently under construction and is projected to open in 2007.
