H.R. No. 61 





R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, During the 79th legislative session, the office of State Representative Abel Herrero benefited tremendously from the service rendered by Angela Vorpahl of Katy; and WHEREAS, Born in Corpus Christi, Ms. Vorpahl graduated from Cinco Ranch High School in Katy and was awarded a scholarship to play NCAA Division II volleyball for St. Edward's University, where she earned a place in the starting lineup her freshman year; demonstrating outstanding athleticism and talent, she helped to lead her team through a winning season that included a 24-15 season record, an 8-2 conference record, and the 2004 Heartland Conference Championship title; and WHEREAS, This noteworthy young Texan also performed exceptionally well in the classroom as an honors student at St. Edward's University; working on dual majors of political science and Spanish, she earned a perfect 4.0 grade point average as well as a place on the dean's list; and WHEREAS, In addition to compiling an impressive list of personal achievements, Ms. Vorpahl has shown a deep commitment to helping others; her extensive community service efforts include going on three consecutive mission trips to Sierra Mojada and Esmeralda, Mexico, with the Life Teen Youth Group from Epiphany of the Lord Catholic Church in Katy, serving as a volunteer coach for volleyball camps and other youth teams, and participating in the Any Baby Can family literacy program in Austin; and WHEREAS, Over the course of her legislative internship in 2005, Ms. Vorpahl gave of her time and talents to assist Representative Herrero's staff, gaining valuable work experience in the field of public service and making significant contributions to numerous projects benefiting her fellow Texans; and WHEREAS, In all of her endeavors, Ms. Vorpahl has enjoyed the love and support of two extremely proud parents, Doug and Rosemary Vorpahl, and three cherished sisters, Jenny, Amy, and Amanda; and WHEREAS, This remarkable young lady performed her duties as a legislative intern with skill, professionalism, and dedication, all the while excelling in her academic and athletic careers, and her efforts in behalf of the constituents of House District 34 are greatly appreciated; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas Legislature, 2nd Called Session, hereby commend Angela Vorpahl for her service as a legislative intern in the office of State Representative Abel Herrero and extend to her sincere best wishes for success in all her future endeavors; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Ms. Vorpahl as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
