H.R. No. 65
R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Steven T. Mitchell of Dallas is being recognized for
attaining the prestigious rank of Eagle Scout at a Court of Honor
ceremony on July 31, 2005, at Good Street Baptist Church; and
WHEREAS, A valued member of Boy Scout Troop No. 167, which is
sponsored by the church, Mr. Mitchell has progressed through the
ranks, earning 21 merit badges and completing an Eagle Scout
project of lasting benefit to his community; and
WHEREAS, This outstanding young man is an active congregant
of Good Street Baptist Church, participating with Christian
education, the drill team, Junior Ushers, Junior Church, Sunday
school, the Ambassadors Youth Choir, the legal clinic, and vacation
Bible school; and
WHEREAS, The son of Larry and LaWanda Mitchell, Eagle Scout
Mitchell graduated in 2005 from Justin F. Kimball High School,
where he was a Texas Scholar, a member of the National Honor Roll, a
member of the Homecoming Court, and first runner-up to Mr. Top Teen;
he will begin his college career in the fall, majoring in sports
medicine at East Texas Baptist University; and
WHEREAS, Eagle Scout Mitchell is a role model for his fellow
scouts and for all young Texans, and his unwavering commitment to
scouting, to his church, and to the community is an inspiration to
all who know him; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas
Legislature, 2nd Called Session, hereby congratulate Steven T.
Mitchell on attaining the rank of Eagle Scout and extend to him
sincere best wishes for success and happiness in the coming years;
and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Mr. Mitchell as an expression of high regard by the
Texas House of Representatives.
