R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Longtime Socorro resident Trini Lopez is to be commended for his outstanding contributions to the community, including his role in the successful 314th anniversary parade and festival for the city in April 2005; and WHEREAS, Mr. Lopez, who has made Socorro his home for the past 33 years, has devoted 15 of those years to public service and is currently in his second term as a city councilman; widely known for his dedication to area quality of life issues, he has also served as president of the "Water for our Children Committee," which proved instrumental in garnering $70 million in state grant money from the Texas Water Department Board for a sewer and potable water project in Socorro; and WHEREAS, In his work in behalf of the city's 314th anniversary parade and festival, Mr. Lopez volunteered countless hours in promoting and organizing the event, acquiring vital financial support, and rallying community volunteers; and WHEREAS, This distinguished gentleman has truly made a profound and positive difference in the lives of his fellow Texans, and his good works have produced results of lasting benefit to the city of Socorro; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas Legislature, 2nd Called Session, hereby honor Trini Lopez for his many noteworthy accomplishments and extend to him sincere best wishes for happiness and continued success in all his endeavors; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Mr. Lopez as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
