R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, The passing of Lloyd Calvin Woodbury on June 18,
2005, at the age of 88, has deeply saddened the friends and family
of this beloved Kerrville resident; and
WHEREAS, Born March 11, 1917, in Rawlins, Wyoming,
Mr. Woodbury was a gifted artist and taxidermist; he worked for
Jonas Brothers Furriers in New York City, later returning to
Rawlins, where he opened a successful taxidermy shop, meat
processing plant, and tannery; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Woodbury arrived in his adopted hometown of
Kerrville in 1974 and established another taxidermy studio which
thrived under his skillful direction; and
WHEREAS, After his retirement, this notable Texas artist
pursued his passion for sculpture, creating an impressive canon of
western and wildlife bronzes; and
WHEREAS, Known for his charm and wit, Lloyd Woodbury was a man
of tremendous talent, and although his presence will indeed be
greatly missed, his spirit will live on in the memories of the many
people fortunate enough to have known him and in the inspiring works
that he leaves behind; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas
Legislature, 2nd Called Session, hereby pay tribute to the memory
of Lloyd Calvin Woodbury and extend deepest sympathy to the members
of his family: to his children, Michael Woodbury and his wife,
Kathy, Patricia Lynn Woodbury, Leslyn Lewallen and her husband,
Mike, Becky Woodbury, and Loretta Anne Woodbury; to his brother and
sister, Alva Woodbury and Eva Vinton; and to his other relatives and
many friends; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Lloyd
Calvin Woodbury.
