R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Norma Stanton has served the citizens of North Texas for more than a decade, and her retirement from the Dallas Area Rapid Transit board of directors provides a fitting opportunity to reflect on her many contributions; and WHEREAS, Appointed to her position in 1990 by the Irving City Council, she served the DART board of directors as chair from 1995 to 1997, and as a member of the audit committee, external communications committee, new member cities committee, planning committee, project management committee, and Trinity Railway Express advisory committee; and WHEREAS, Ms. Stanton further gave back to her community as a member of the Irving City Council, on which she served from 1978 to 1985; she has also lent her time and talents to the Central Appraisal District Review Board, the Regional Transportation Council, and the Governors Conference on Libraries and served as chair of the Northeast Texas Systems Advisory Council and the Irving Transportation Task Force; and WHEREAS, A graduate of Southern Methodist University, this esteemed professional works as an independent appraiser and has earned her real estate broker's license and appraisal designation from Dallas College; and WHEREAS, Through her untiring dedication and able leadership, Norma Stanton has contributed in meaningful and lasting ways to the quality of life in Dallas County, and it is indeed a privilege to recognize her at this time; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas Legislature, 2nd Called Session, hereby honor Norma Stanton on her retirement from the Dallas Area Rapid Transit board of directors and extend to her sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Ms. Stanton as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
